quite often we forget that the skin is our largest organ (and the most visible!) and thus should be well-cared for, explains rebekah george, beauty editor of prevention magazine. on that note, the 2009 prevention defy your age beauty blogger bash kicked off last thursday in nyc, revealing the 7 greatest under $50 anti-aging products of 2009 that beat the wrinkles (but not the wallet)!

as beauty blogger guests mingled over a nutritious (and quite delicious!) brunch, we met with experts in the field of dermatology and beauty and were pampered with free essie manicures (thank you barbara and michelle!). guests also received a personal skin analysis from dr. goldberg of mount sinai school of medicine using the frightfully-revealing visia complexion analysis machine, which uses advanced technology to assess various aspects of skin condition, such as uv damage, red spots, and wrinkles, based on the results of individuals within your age group. the results were truly eye-opening, shocking each unsuspecting guest with presently invisible problems beneath the skin that become all-too obvious later in life, proving just how important proper care is to healthy skin. as they say beauty is pain, and sometimes the truth hurts (but better now than later)!

each guest received their very own goodie bag filled with the award-winning anti-aging products themselves valued at over $200!

according to rebekah, each winning product was determined based on real results obtained by dermatologists using the visia complexion analysis machine. 35 products, all under $50, released since the beginning of 2008 were used in the study, and 5 women were assigned to try out each product. each participant of the study used their given product for up to 8 weeks, after which the before-and-after visia analysis photos were analyzed to detect possible skin improvement. the products with the greatest contribution to overall skin health improvement were deemed supreme.
