3 essentials from mario russo ...

i love mario russo products. many of them have a pure olive oil base and just make my skin and hair feel amazing. as an added bonus, a lot of their products come in travel sizes (though i never mind transferring great products to smaller travel sized containers!).

here are my latest three travel must-haves from mario russo:

what makes this soap so special? several things. the soap has a moisturizing plant oil base rich in glycerin (a moisture attractant) which means your skin is going to be treated to smoothness from the get-go. additionally, charcoal is included in the formula for its exfoliating and purifying qualities. finally, the scent is fantastic! i'm a sucker for citrus fragrances, and spa soap features a delicious light pummelo (sweet grapefruit) fragrance that leaves me feeling refreshed all day. plus, the size is perfect for travel. tuck it into a small freezer bag - wet or dry - and you're ready to go.

i talk a lot about lotions and moisturizers, and how important they are to traveling divas wanting to offset the bad things travel can do to skin. i've tried so many lotions - it seems a million different scents and formulations have crossed my editorial desk. every once in a while, though, a product comes along that is remarkable in its simplicity. lend a hand lotion is that product for me. there's virtually no scent so you don't have to worry about it clashing with your perfume. the lotion softens and smooths quickly, and doesn't leave a greasy feel. it simply hydrates, which is often exactly the thing i'm looking for! in addition, part of the proceeds of every sale of lend a hand lotion goes to a charity. soft skin AND giving back. gotta love multi-tasking!

dealing with perpetually color-treated hair that frizzes the moment a single drop of water is present in the air is a trick i've been trying to master all my life. while i'd like to fool myself into thinking a pixie haircut looks FABULOUS on me ... well ... i'm simply not that good a liar. this means i am stuck with hair that falls somewhere between upper shoulders and mid-back. this also means that taming it is a full-time job. i need products that work when the air is dry as well as when it is wet. miracle styling creme does. olive oil and vitamin e in the creme work to moisturize the hair when it's thirsty, but they also work to tame even the frizziest frizz. addicted to the blow dryer and straightening iron? no worries. it also protects hair from the damaging heat from hair appliances.
