turn and face me ...

the weather's changing, and with it, our skin. traveling in the fall is one of the best feelings, and it is also one of the most taxing experiences, complexion-wise. flaking, over-moisturizing, under-SPFing ... and where the heck did that in-between-seasons skin color come from, exactly (you know the one - somewhere between your faded summer tan and your gloriously porcelain winter face?)?!

in the particularly odd transitional fall season, you need to treat your skin to an in-between shade of foundation, and one that covers well but doesn't cake on or make your skin feel dry and stripped. face atelier to the rescue, with a couple of other products you'll want to consider packing in your carry on bags this season as well.

perfect for giving a bit more coverage in fall to help conceal "transition skin" (gone are the sweet summer days of tinted moisturizer - at least for another couple of seasons), this silicone-based foundation is slightly heavier than you may be used to. there is a method to the madness, however, as the heavier consistency allows you to blend to your heart's content. it does not dry as quickly as other foundations, and therefore allows you some wiggle room with your coverage. a tiny amount completely masked our freckles, went on amazingly smooth and even, and because of the silicone content, no primer was necessary. we didn't even need concealer or eye shadow base (if that's not a superb multitasker, we don't know what is!). if you simply must have a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation, simply mix a little of this into your favorite moisturizer. you'll be amazed at the how much coverage you can still stretch out of this remarkable product. here's our favorite feature - you can purchase zero minus and zero plus in the same formulation and custom-mix your foundation lighter or darker as needed each season.

skin in transition from summer to fall sometimes needs a little pick-me-up in the color department, and peachy shades are perfect for this. not quite bronzey, not quite baby-doll pinky, a very lightly shimmery peach tone across cheeks, along temples and hairline, and lightly over the tip of the chin can work wonders in extending your summer color well into the fall season and even throughout the winter should you choose. face atelier's ultra blush has a high pigment saturation so you don't need to use much. use with a light hand, and use it year-round to give your face a gentle touch of brightness.

lips tend to feel the change of the seasons first, and leave you with dry lips. nothing makes that fabulous new shade of lipstick look ... well ... cheaper than glossing it over dry, chapped lips and having it run into the tiny new creases along your lipline. apply lip putty as you would lip balm under lipstick as a base. the velvety texture fills in tiny lines and eliminates color-run. since it's chock full of vitamins and essential oils, it helps repair your lips while it keeps your color soft and smooth.

now get out there and have a great autumn!
