so, you're on a trip and you have an experience that moves you... taking in the smell of sea water, romance and wine as you round the corner of doges' palace and catch a glimpse of the ponte della paglia in venice. shielding your eyes to the sun as you look up, and up, and up to the statue of liberty for the first time. feeling a jolt of numbness on your tongue as you taste pure flakes of snow falling in vermont.
then you go home and rely on your very fried brain to remember that memory for years to come, right? wrong! you write. you sit down right after the moment that moves you (wait until the magicalness of it all wears off just enough so you can function) then you write.
write until every feeling, vision, idea is on paper. and, it doesn't always have to be a good kind of magical. traveling brings on all kinds of memories that make you laugh, cry and wince. grandma yelling at the waiter because he knocked her dentures off the table. you'll want to write that down. the guy with a wandering eye (does his kind ever look above the neck?) questions if he is in heaven because you must be an angel. ughhh. you're gonna want to remember that one for a laugh. you meet the man of your dreams on the ferry, then lose him on the way off, only to bump into him again at the airport. uh huh. that's a memory keeper. write it down.
To help you with those written memories that complete your trip and add to your life, we want to introduce jenni bick bookbinding with one-of-a-kind handmade writing books. jenni bick has it all, offering a journal for every occasion and every style, including top journal designers. with prices from under $10 to over $100, i love the choices, the selection and the ability to write my wonderful, wacky stories in something so creative. did we mention jenni bick also has albums, guest books and other great keepsakes?
so, the next time you are heading on a trip, or heck, even out the door, grab one of these fabulous journals, and write on. your fried brain will thank you.

What a cool blog! I like to travel a lot, and absolutely HATE checking in my stuff. Your tips come in handy! Thanks!
Hello, fellow Fashion Blog Bazaarer ;)
How are you doing?
I love your blog, because I carry all my stuff in a (pretty heavy) carry on, after an incident with a lost suitcase at JFK airport in NY.
Please write more tips on taking shoes with you. Boots are especially tricky.
And more tips on resisting the urge of trying to stuff all your wardrobe into one carry one, please ;)
tango - thanks so much!
olga - yeah ... working boots into the mix is a toughie. we'll try to post more on shoes and boots soon! thanks chickadee!
